Find Your Elected Officials

YOUR voice matters.  Turn your PASSION for an issue into ACTION.

Legislators want to hear from their constituents. The most effective way to contact them is via email, however you may also call them or send a fax. Mailed letters must go through intense security procedures which can delay their delivery.

Find Your Federal and State Elected Officials

Before you contact your elected officials…

Educate yourself:

  • Find who represents you

  • Read newspapers, websites and blogs

  • Contact a local community organization for background information

  • Voice your point-of-view to family, friends and work colleagues

  • Learn the FederalStateBaltimore City and Baltimore County legislative processes

Create a clear message:

  • Clearly state your purpose (support/oppose a bill)

  • Be concise

  • Let them know you are a constituent (you live in their district, belong to their party or voted for them)

  • Reference the bill number(s), if possible

  • Include key information (how the issue will impact your community)

  • Support your position using examples

  • Reference only one issue per letter
